Battery Safety Notice and Disclaimer

BATTERY SAFETY NOTICE AND DISCLAIMER Read before handling, installing, charging, storing, shipping, or disposing of a Nexus battery pack. Keep a copy with the product.

  1. LITHIUM BATTERY HAZARD This product is a lithium-ion battery pack manufactured by Nexus Battery Systems ("Nexus"). Lithium-ion batteries store a large amount of energy. If damaged, misused, improperly charged, or improperly stored, they can overheat, leak, vent toxic or flammable gases, catch fire, or explode, which can cause serious injury, death, or property damage. This can happen even when the pack is not in use or not connected to anything.
  2. SAFE HANDLING Only trained, qualified personnel should handle, install, or service this pack. Do not drop, crush, puncture, bend, or strike the pack. Do not open, disassemble, modify, or repair it, and do not bypass or alter its protection circuit (BMS), fuses, or wiring. Do not short-circuit the terminals; keep metal objects, tools, and jewelry away from them and cover exposed terminals when the pack is not connected. Keep away from water, moisture, open flame, and heat sources. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  3. CHARGING Nexus does not supply, approve, or warrant any charger unless it agrees to do so in writing. The user is solely responsible for choosing a charger and charge settings that match this pack's chemistry and ratings, and must never exceed the voltage or current ratings on the label or product documentation. Do not charge a pack that is damaged, swollen, leaking, hot, or has been dropped or exposed to water or extreme temperatures. Charge on a non-flammable surface, away from combustible materials, and do not leave a pack charging unattended. Charge only within the cell manufacturer's charging temperature range; do not charge below 32°F (0°C).
  4. STORAGE Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, fire-safe area, away from combustible materials, exits, and occupied living spaces, and out of direct sunlight. Recommended storage temperature is 59°F to 77°F (15°C to 25°C); never store below -4°F (-20°C) or above 113°F (45°C). Do not store in vehicles, trailers, or unconditioned sheds or containers. Store at a state of charge of 30% or less and disconnected from loads and chargers.
  5. LONG-TERM STORAGE Lithium-ion packs slowly lose charge over time, and a pack left too long can drop below a safe voltage and be permanently damaged. If the pack will be stored longer than 30 days, check its voltage at least every 60 days. If the voltage has dropped close to the cell manufacturer's minimum, recharge it only back to the storage level (30% or less) with a suitable charger. If the voltage has dropped below the minimum, do not charge it; set it aside in a fire-safe area and contact Nexus.
  6. INSPECTION AND DAMAGED PACKS Inspect the pack on receipt and before each use. Stop using the pack immediately if it is swollen, cracked, dented, leaking, discolored, unusually hot, smoking, smells unusual, or makes popping or hissing sounds. Move it, only if safe to do so, to an isolated, non-flammable area outdoors or away from people and combustibles, and contact Nexus. In case of fire, evacuate and call 911; large amounts of water or a Class D or lithium-rated extinguisher may be needed, and the pack may reignite. If electrolyte contacts skin or eyes, flush with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
  7. SHIPPING AND TRANSPORT Lithium batteries are regulated as hazardous materials (Class 9) for transport. Anyone shipping this pack is responsible for following all applicable rules (including U.S. DOT 49 CFR, IATA, and IMDG), including correct classification, packaging, labeling, state of charge, and documentation. Do not ship a damaged or defective pack except as those rules allow.
  8. DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING Do not throw this pack in household trash or recycling bins, burn it, or put it in a landfill. Before disposal, discharge it as far as safely possible, tape over or cover the terminals, and take it to a certified battery recycler or hazardous waste facility (for example, a Call2Recycle drop-off location) in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. Contact Nexus for help with returns or recycling.
  9. INSTALLATION AND INTENDED USE The buyer and installer are responsible for confirming that this pack is suitable for their application and for properly integrating it, including mounting, enclosure, insulation, wiring, fusing, cooling, charging system, and compliance with all codes and standards that apply to their end product. Do not use this pack in medical, life-support, manned aircraft, or other safety-critical applications unless Nexus has approved that use in writing. For drones and other unmanned aircraft, the buyer is solely responsible for flight testing, airworthiness, and compliance with FAA and other aviation rules, and for designing the aircraft so that a battery failure does not endanger people or property.
  10. QC REPORT The quality control report provided with each pack reflects the tests and measurements performed by Nexus on the date shown, before shipment. It does not guarantee future performance, capacity, run time, or cycle life, which depend on how the pack is used, charged, and stored.
  11. WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY Any warranty for this product is only as stated in Nexus's written quote, invoice, or terms and conditions of sale. EXCEPT FOR THAT WRITTEN WARRANTY, AND TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS PRODUCT IS PROVIDED "AS IS," AND NEXUS DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NEXUS IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, DAMAGE, OR LOSS CAUSED BY MISUSE, ABUSE, NEGLECT, ACCIDENT, IMPROPER CHARGING, HANDLING, STORAGE, INSTALLATION, OR TRANSPORT, UNAUTHORIZED MODIFICATION OR REPAIR, OR FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS NOTICE, AND IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. Some states do not allow certain disclaimers or limits, so some of these may not apply. Handling, charging, storing, installing, or using this pack means you have read and accept this notice.
